Today was a pretty hilly day, but ended with a long, winding fairy forest path by a beautiful little creek. We arrived in Pontevedra, had drinks and calamari, and tomorrow is a rest day, so we will get to see some sites and hang out. The goal tomorrow is to rest and recuperate. That’s going to take an act of discipline, but it’s possible, lol!
Here are today’s pics…
A little slow getting started today. How I like to start my day. A cafe con letche, my map and my calendar. And quiet time. After having to tip toe around an Alburgue trying not to disturb anyone else, my stress level is up and my brain power is down. I can go for hours with just this cuppa in the morning.About half the scenery looked like this today. There were some steep climbs through forested areas, too.Whole sections of fences have become flash mob art installations (for lack of a better term). This is the cross I added to it today. These ruts must be the evidence of cart travel going back a thousand years. And no, it wasn’t particularly fun to hike over, but ITS A CHALLENGE, NOT A HARDSHIP! More tomorrow… only 3 more days of serious hiking left! Can’t believe it!
Sang in here. A little touristy except this pilgrim. I feel like so many people don’t understand that the Camino is more than a long walk. Street art. Fantastic!!!The cross of Saint James. Along with the pilgrims’ shell, this is one of the icons of the camino. At LAST!!! (Cue the Etta James), we have arrived in Ponteverde. There were a few dangerous muddy spots, and some steep climbs and descents today, but it was all do-able. It’s a challenge not a hardship. Have I mentioned that? 😉It’s one thing to see a picture of these things, it’s a different kind of thing to see them in person.
Tomorrow is a rest day in Pontevedra. Our new friend Lena might catch up with us here, that would be fantastic. (She’s a delightful Aussie and lots of fun).
