Woke up at 4am, couldn’t get back to sleep. Trying to be quiet around other pilgrims in a room that sleeps 20 people? It can be done.
Shipping my bag, but I think my daypack needs an upgrade. I’ll look for one along the way.
Beautiful sunny day. Long walk. Marie hiked with me today. I also ran into Fay from Taiwan – we met on day 2 along the trail.
Mr. Blister is back. I’m coping. Had a GREAT dinner (pilgrim’s menu) of veggie soup, salad, fabulous roasted chicken, rice, bread and tinto blanco (white wine). Lena from Queensland Australia went to dinner with me- she has walked all the way from Lisbon! Now THAT’S a hike! I think she’s on day 17!
I am shipping my backpack ahead, and unfortunately, walking with Marie has caused some changes in my approach to this Camino. For example, she doesn’t think she can make the whole distance I had planned to walk today, so I altered my schedule and will have to catch up in the next few days to get back on my original plan. It turned out to be OK, tho, because I was fried by the end of the day.
I usually start around 8am and stop around 2-3pm. I got in a break or two along the way, especially because this last section had several up-hill challenges.
Here are the day’s pics…

My Portuguese is improving bit by bit. Lena speaks Portuguese fluently so that is SO helpful. I am meeting so many interesting people from all around the world!
More tomorrow.
Cheers! V-
